Commissioned by the 3rd Duchess of Palmela in 1901, as a gift for the pianist Alexandre Rey Colaço, Casa Monsalvat appears as the first house of the cycle of "Moroccan houses" of the renowned architect Raul Lino. Located on top of Monte Estoril, with a privileged view over the sea and the bay of Cascais, the villa is in excellent state of conservation, maintaining all the original architectural features, with its tiles standing out, having a strong symbolic and historical component, and reflecting Mudejar influences.

The house has an atrium completely covered by tiles from the 16th century (from the Sé Velha of Coimbra), which allows the cohesion of all the space, giving access to the upper floors and also to the two living rooms and the kitchen. The rooms are large, with a fireplace and connected to the outside porch, which has a 180-degree view of the sea.
